China Corruption Blotter (January 13, 2014)

Huang Fengping, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, has been suspended and placed under investigation on suspicion of accepting bribes during drug procurements for Shanghai’s Huashan Hospital. He has also been implicated in GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) bribery investigation in China. One of Huang's relatives worked for GSK China.

GSK will stop paying doctors for promotional speeches

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) will not be paying doctors to promote its pharmaceutical products through speeches following a corruption scandal in China that was disclosed earlier this year. It will also not make its sales force have individual sales targets any longer.
