China Corruption Blotter (August 1, 2014)

Duan Jianguo, head of Shanxi Provincial Transportation Department, has been dismissed from public post and expelled from the communist party for accepting bribes and abusing power.  Authorities confiscated Duan’s illicit gains worth nearly $2.8 million and transferred the case to judicial department for criminal charges.

China Corruption Blotter (September 27, 2013)

Wen Qingliang, former head of Kunming Railway Bureau in Yunnan province has been charged by prosecutors for taking $3.3 million in bribes together with his mistress, surnamed Zhong. Wen allegedly helped Shanxi’s coal mine owners deliver coals using the railway system in return for bribes. Prosecutors have named several bribe givers, including Quwo Minguang Coking Co., Ltd and Shanxi Guangda Coking Air Source Co., Ltd.
