Song Wei, former general manager of Chongqing Liangjiang Water Co Ltd, a subsidiary of state-owned Chongqing Water Group Co Ltd, was sentenced to 13 years in jail for awarding private contractors environmental projects in exchange for bribes worth $641,245. Song pled guilty to his crimes and hence received a lenient sentence. http://news.xinhuanet.com

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection is investigating Dai Chunning, vice president of China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation, for serious discipline violations, without giving further details. Sources said that Dai may have committed crimes during his term at the Export-Import Bank of China where he managed loans for major projects and corporate business. http://english.caixin.com

Liu Zhenjian, former head of the United Front Work Department of Heze municipal party committee in Shandong province, has been dismissed and stripped of his party membership for accepting bribes. Details of his misconduct have not been released. He will be transferred to judicial organs for criminal investigation. http://fanfu.people.com.cn

Leng Hua, former head of the No.10 tax office of the Jiangyou Municipal Local Taxation Bureau in Sichuan province, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for accepting bribes and dereliction of duty. Leng took $180,576 in bribes from taxpayers in exchange for reducing tax amounts or exempting them from paying tax altogether. http://www.su-long.com

Sun Jingming, former party chief of Xingren sub-district office at the Shandong Zaozhuang Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, was sentenced to life in prison for taking bribes of nearly $1.6 million from a number of companies seeking government projects, public funds and bank loans. One of the bribe-givers has been identified as the chairman of Shandong Riel Biology Produce Co Ltd, surnamed Liu. http://www.chinanews.com

Guangdong Provincial Higher People’s Court has rejected an appeal from Liu Julang, a Hong Kong businessman who received a ten-year jail term in September for bribery. Liu made use of his personal connections with Wu Zhanhui, former deputy secretary-general of Dongguan City Party Committee, to obtain land-use approval for Dongguan Tins Chemical Corporation Ltd. In return, Liu accepted over $5.2 million from the company and funneled $110,214 in bribes to local land officials. http://news.dayoo.com
