Defense contractor claims yacht as Mississippi office, pays $220,00 to settle federal claims

Materials Sciences Corporation, a government contractor headquartered in Horsham, Pennsylvania, agreed to pay the United States $219,909 to resolve allegations that it unreasonably billed federal agencies to cover depreciation and other expenses associated with a 58-foot Hatteras Yacht Fisherman.

We talked in June about a study by Indiana University and the City University of Hong Kong that ranked the U.S. states from least to most corrupt, with Mississippi scoring worst and Oregon as best. A couple of weeks ago, Reid Wilson of the Washington Post asked how Oregon does it.
