GW Law Colloquium: The Fight Against Corruption....A Report from Brazil

Brazil has been rocked by a series of scandals stemming from corruption in procurement, from Petrobras to the World Cup.

Please join a panel of distinguished Brazilian lawyers to discuss legal efforts to counter this wave of corruption, including important reforms in debarment, bid protests, criminal law and compliance.

Among other issues, the panelists will address:
  • Brazil’s public procurement system: what vulnerabilities led to the current corruption scandals
  • Institutional arrangements for fighting corruption in Brazil: courts, government agencies and applicable laws
  • Self-cleaning/Remediation in Brazil: a comparative approach with EU and U.S. compliance law and practice
  • Leniency agreements and the role of Brazil’s antitrust authority (CADE) in fighting corruption in public procurement

The colloquium, part of a regular series at the Law School, is free and open to the public.
