Resource Alert -- Anti-Corruption Law and Compliance: Guide to the FCPA and Beyond

Bloomberg/BNA has just published Anti-Corruption Law and Compliance: Guide to the FCPA and Beyond by Kevin Abikoff, John Wood and Michael Huneke.

They're lawyers at longtime FCPA Blog-sponsor Hughes Hubbard. Abikoff chairs the firm's anti-corruption and internal investigations practice group. Washington Post Magazine named him one of DC's Super Lawyers in white collar criminal defense for each of the past three years.

The first part of the book focuses on how anti-corruption laws work. "It's our hope that these chapters will provide understanding and insight to both seasoned anti-corruption professionals and those seeking to learn about these laws for the first time," the authors said.

Chapters on the practical application of anti-corruption laws in the oil and gas, defense, pharmaceutical, and foreign infrastructure industries are particularly helpful.

The chapter on the foreign infrastructure industry focuses on "recently and substantially enhanced anti-corruption efforts at the World Bank," where "significant anti-corruption efforts are being matched by the other multinational development banks," the authors said.

The final section of the book combines a discussion of anti-corruption laws and their practical application for select jurisdictions beyond the U.S. "In particular, the chapters on anti-corruption laws in Brazil and the United Kingdom analyze what we expect to be two of the most significant international enforcement regimes in the near term," they said.

This is a powerful and comprehensive resource for anyone dealing with anti-corruption compliance and enforcement.

Highly recommended.
