Long-Arm Laws Untangled

Our friends at the Virginia Journal of International Law are hosting a Spring Symposium on Friday, February 10 at UVa's law school in Charlottesville.

How to resolve conflicts between U.S. and foreign laws is the topic. We've asked in this space what happens when more than one country tries to enforce their anti corruption laws against an individual or a corporation. The symposium tackles that question and more.

The keynote speaker is the State Department's legal adviser, Harold Hongju Koh. Among the dozen other panelists will be Professor Elizabeth Spahn from the New England Law School in Boston. Her scholarship on multi jurisdictional antibribery enforcement leads the field. Richard Dean from Baker & McKenzie's D.C. office will also  be there. He brings decades of compliance experience in Russia and the CIS countries.
